Our first session is about getting to know more about you (or your child) and what you want to get out of our work together! I will introduce you to the therapy space, and review my approach and basic therapy policies with you. Then we will co-create our goals together through discussion and (if desired) creative visualizing. It is important that you feel seen, heard and understood during this process. Healing and change in therapy is a process and requires mutual effort and communication throughout the way. I will always welcome questions and feedback!

I love incorporating the creative arts as a way to "dive deeper" into an issue, or to create moments of play and imagination to help look at things from a fresh perspective. I have training in EMDR as well as IFS, which I blend together to help clients identify and look at parts of themselves that need attention and healing. I use art with EMDR elements as a way to help ground my clients through sensory and experiences and image-making when they may feel anxious or overstimulated. I have found that working with metaphor and symbols can be a powerful way to create new paths of insight and healing.

I lived in Tasmania Australia when I was a child (my father is an Australian Citizen), and I have pet wombats and seen a Tasmanian Devil (it looks nothing like the cartoon)!
“I am a licensed mental health counselor, board-certified, registered art therapist, and artist with a Master’s degree in Art Therapy from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I also work as an adjunct professor at Lesley University. In addition to working with children and families, I support adolescents and adults with diverse issues. My clinical expertise includes anxiety, depression, PTSD, racing thoughts, anger management, hyperactivity, bipolar disorder, group work, and parenting support.
I am trained in cognitive behavioral trauma-focused therapy for children (TF-CBT) and hold Level One Certification as a Trauma-Informed Art Therapist. I am also trained in both DBT and EMDR, treatments used to help with trauma and phobias. I use an eclectic approach, incorporating my skills in art therapy with techniques from positive psychology, focus, mindfulness, IFS, and DBT to address a wide range of issues. As an art therapist, I use the arts—such as drawing, painting, collage, journaling, poetry, and sculpture—to help my clients access and express their thoughts and feelings. The creative arts can help unblock or express issues that might be difficult to reach through words alone and can support treatment progress. Art therapy has proven especially beneficial for those who struggle with verbal expression or have a history of trauma or PTSD.”
