Specialty/Age Groups Treated - I am a drama therapist that specializes in the use of tabletop roleplaying games such as Dungeons and Dragons as a therapeutic tool. I also use art and music therapy techniques in my practice while working with older children, teens, and young adults.

In my first session, I usually play a getting to know you game where the client and I take turns asking questions of each other to establish trust and to give clients a chance to get to know me before when head into the nitty gritty of sessions.

I love the use of tabletop roleplaying games as a therapeutic tool, as it allows for the drama therapy technique of aesthetic distance, the balance between feeling and intellectually understanding one's emotions. The characters people create in these scenarios often reflect who they are on some level, but because they are not playing strictly as themselves, they feel safe enacting parts of themselves they wouldn't in their real life.

I love to read, write, crochet, and snuggle my cat, Rory!
I’m Brooke Dennis, a drama therapist intern working towards licensure under supervision. I moved to Massachusetts and joined the Artful Life team from Manhattan, Kansas, though I was born and raised in Central Florida. My specialty lies in using tabletop roleplaying games like Dungeons and Dragons as therapeutic tools, but I also incorporate other creative arts modalities such as music, art, and bibliotherapy into my practice.
I enjoy working with a diverse range of people of all ages. I have specialized experience working with LGBTQ+ young adults and those who want to explore the intersections of spirituality or faith, gender identity, and sexuality. In my free time, I love writing, reading, crocheting, playing D&D, and spending time with my cat, Rory (Aurora).
