Fundamentals of Art Therapy: A 3 part series
About this event:
All Trainings are happening at our Salem MA Locations from 10am-12pm.
- March 15: Art Materials: Participants will learn the expressive qualities of art materials to help them make effective considerations when choosing art materials in therapy.
- April 12: Metaphor and Discussing the Artwork: Participants will be able to identify 3 arts-based interventions focusing on building emotional intelligence, mindfulness, and somatic awareness.
- May 17: from 10-12 Elements of Art Therapy Assessments: Participants will understand the history and use of 3 Art Therapy Assessments as inspiration for developing their own therapeutic and diagnostic insights.
2 CEUs per 2 hour session In-Person Trainings held at The Artful Life Studio, 142 Canal Street, Salem MA
*NASW and MAMHCA CEUs provided $75 per training or $200 for all 3 trainings
Instructor: Allison Rabin, LMHC, ATR-BC: Supervising Art Therapist at The Artful Life
Allison is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Registered Art Therapist who earned an MA in Art Therapy from George Washington University in 2007. For more than a decade, Allison has worked with clients of all ages, individually and in Arts-Based Therapy Groups, to address challenging emotional, cognitive, and social issues through Art Therapy. Her specializations include: Trauma and PTSD, Anxiety and Depression, and Social or Communication difficulties. Allison is also trained in DBT.
In her clinical work, Allison helps clients identify their objectives for therapy and collaboratively designs art projects to address these objectives through metaphor. Clients develop an inner voice and set of tools that help them to make healthy decisions and overcome obstacles, feeling less stuck and more adept at achieving life goals.
Allison is an accomplished visual artist and enjoys sharing her passion for drawing, painting, sewing, and mixed media.
